I’ve read this before and it quickly became my favorite book. Even out doing The Shining and Doctor Sleep. And I’ve been in a little reading slump lately. So why not pull out something I know I’ll love?
Grady Hendrix is one of my favorite horror writers. He has a way of making the mundane horrific and the horrific mundane. His books are always a page turner.
He set this book in the 1980s. It follows best friends Abby and Gretchen. This is perfect for anyone in the Gen X group.
It’s the story of two friends, Abby and Gretchen.
They grow up together and live perfectly normal (not possessed by the devil) lives.
But that wasn’t the case when they were in high school. After a night of skinny dipping, Gretchen changes. Abby worries about her friend and does some investigating of her own. Soon enough, she realizes the devil may possess Gretchen himself.
This book had me on the edge of my seat. I could not put it down. Grady Hendrix has the amazing ability to write female characters like he actually enjoys them.
The book is hilarious and scary at the same time – I can’t put it down!
I went through the entire range of emotions reading this. There is nothing else I can say but read this so you can experience it, too.
If you’re looking for a good summer read, I highly recommend this one.
Grady Hendrix is a horror maestro, and he definitely doesn’t disappoint with My Best Friend’s Exorcism. Abby and Gretchen are hilarious and relatable characters and the story is spine chilling. You’ll be hooked from start to finish!
