I think George looks like a wonderful book to help open the conversation with kids about LGBTQ+ family members and friends. LGBTQ+ issues are a big part of my life and my family. My oldest child is gender fluid. My brother is gay. I'm bi. Anything that helps people (including kids) realize who they are and how to live their best life I am here for.
I'm continuing my banned and challenged book series with a new to me book. This book was one of the top ten most challenged books in 2021. You would think with everything going on last year that people would have better things to do. But I guess all that time alone in quarantine gave them a case of Karenitis.
What gets me about this book is how many people try to get rid of it because of language and viewpoints of the time. Like, you want kids to learn about history, well, this is history. It's horrible and terrible and rough. But it's too late to rewrite it. So, learn from it.
